Leiomyosarcoma

Leiomyosarcoma

A leiomyosarcoma is (typically) a highly malignant myometrial tumor that has many of the appearances of a leiomyoma.  These malignancies are associated with a high rate of mortality. However, they are extremely rare. The prevalence is probably closer to 1/10.000 than the 1/300 suggested by some regulatory agencies. They appear to be more common in women in the late reproductive years as well as those who are postmenopausal. We will have much more when the site is completed.
